Self-Adhesive Film Application of Acoustic Speaker
Description
Here is a tutorial for a more demanding application.
We decided to take a small loudspeaker and apply the ash film Pearly completely cambiado appearance from the original black.
In this case the more complex process is given from the application of the slightly curved sides of the diffuser.
We see with the major steps.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
A “hot” on both straight and curved corners
LEVEL
Medium / High Level
APPLICATION TOOLS
Cutter (better precision with long blade)
Hairdryer or heat gun
Artesive Squeegee
Caution. Video Tutorial
Also in this case we want to show the video through technique that shows precisely the procedure. In your case, obviously the process will be carried out on the surface you are covering
HighlightsThe process requires a minimum of experience in the application.
Completely disassemble our speaker of all internal and external components.
We take a wide sheet as much as the entire perimeter of the speaker and as long as the perimeter + the length of the upper side. This amplitude is used because the application is made by a single sheet and we are not allowed wrong measures. + Better margins than less.
Now with a pen or pencil, mark the top side perimetrodel keeping the center of the sheet on both sides of the speaker and leaving a distance to cover both the front part and the lower part. therefore not in the exact center but moved to the upper side. Mark and remove the speaker.
With the cutter engrave the marked being careful to cut only the back paper and not the film. This means that you can have the least number of view angles.
As you can see it only removes the portion of the cut back paper.
Place the top of the speaker on the film with the removed card.
Cut, in this case, the entire film along the 4 corners of the speaker. By doing so you can work more comfortably on one side at a time. you will not take away all the back paper and you will not get in the way..
Beginning the actual application then. Before the top after turning the speaker.
Then begin to apply one of the two sides. In our case the sides are curved. This makes the application more complex, but nevertheless using the heat gun and a bit of dexterity you can without major problems to adhere the film perfectly.
Trimmed all sides leaving at least 2 / 3mm of film applied to the side adjacent to the one just ended. It used to fine tune the film and prevent see the underside of the speaker. The indication that we suggest is that the technique called “European” always available in our tutorial.
Complete all sides.
Applied also to the other side.
After application on the two sides to proceed with the coating of the front part.
Apply both to lower front, without cutting nowhere. Continue to the end of the lower part.
Repeat the operation of closing the edges and remove the film in excess
Incident with a clean cut the excess film on all sides. Front and bottom.
Repeat the same thing with the back side. Apply and remove the excess film.
Apply the incisions in the center of the various holes to facilitate mounting of the electronic elements.
Assembled all the components, speakers, crossovers and rear parts.
As you can see the end result is very impressive. Our film turned out to satisfy even the conformable capacity that allows a perfect adhesion even on curved surfaces and not completely flat.

CAUTION
In this video we did not pay much attention to execution perfection deliberately, because our priority was to show the correct steps to be performed.
The application of the film is manual work, perfection comes with practice and with the mistakes then correct themselves, so do not be discouraged if your angle is not perfect initially, it is normal !!
Try and try again if you are a beginner and ask for advice if necessary. We are here for!
